Denny Viehland

Associate Pastor, Elder

Denny Viehland serves as an Elder and Trustee at Metro Harvest Church, where he is deeply committed to biblical leadership, intercessory prayer, and the spiritual development of the church community.

Ordained as an elder in 1975 through Gospel Outreach in Eureka, California, Dennis went on to serve in church planting and pastoral leadership across Chicago and Milwaukee. He later led a Milwaukee-based church until 1993. Since joining Metro Harvest Church in 2010, Dennis has found this season of ministry to be his most rewarding, serving alongside Pastor Mike and the elder team in a spirit of unity and mutual respect.

Dennis is active in leading Metro Harvest’s Prayer Team, teaching advanced discipleship classes, supporting initiatives like the Freedom Conference and 21 Days of Prayer. His ministry philosophy is firmly rooted in the authority of Scripture, with a strong belief that church governance should align with biblical principles and be guided by collective elder wisdom where Scripture is silent.

A lifelong student of the Bible, his ministry has been shaped by leaders such as Billy Graham, Watchman Nee, and Jim Durkin.

Dennis and his wife, Mary Louise, have faithfully served in ministry for decades. They have two living children, Rachel and Joel, and three beloved grandchildren: Molly, Henry, and Hannah. They also care deeply for their foster grandson, Shawn. Their family’s journey has been marked by both joy and sorrow, having lost their son Joshua to violent crime in Milwaukee—an experience that deepened their dependence on Christ.

Dennis is known for his love of teaching, and thoughtful counsel. He enjoys watching football, basketball, and baseball. He and Mary Louise are grateful to be part of the Metro Harvest family and remain devoted to building a Christ-centered culture of love, prayer, and spiritual maturity.
