The One Light Story

Where we Started

In March of 2012, during a church conference, Pastor Mike was reading through Scripture when two verses stopped him in his tracks:

“When you set up the lamps, place them so their light shines forward…” — Numbers 8:2
This is how the lampstand was made: it was made of hammered gold—from its base to its blossoms. The lampstand was made exactly like the pattern the Lord had shown Moses.” — Numbers 8:4

In that moment, God began to reveal a vision, not just for a church, but for multiplication. The image was clear: one lampstand, with multiple lights, all shining forward together. And just as important, it was built according to a specific pattern. There was intention behind it.

That became the framework for how we understood the call on Metro Harvest: not simply to gather people, but to build something that could multiply—raising up disciples and becoming a church that plants and sends.
Over the next several years, Metro Harvest stepped out in faith, and God was faithful.

By 2019, seven churches had been planted across the world: Cuba, Liberia, West Africa, Nepal, China, and the United States. Seven lights shining forward.

Where We're Going

The vision didn’t end with seven churches. It’s expanding. What God began globally, He is now calling us to build locally.

Just as those first seven churches were planted to shine the light of Christ forward, we believe God is leading Metro Harvest into a new season: To become one church in many locations, reaching the greater Metro Milwaukee area.

Not independent churches. But One house. One vision. One mission.
Multiplying its impact across our region. This next phase of the vision is clear: To raise up leaders. To disciple people deeply. To strengthen the foundation of our church. And to prepare the way for future campuses.

We are believing for the day when Metro Harvest becomes a network of campuses, each one carrying the same DNA, the same heart, and the same commitment to reaching people with the gospel.

Seven lights… shining forward across our cities.

How We Move Forward

One Light moves forward through three key areas—working together at the same time to strengthen, prepare, and expand our church.
These phases don’t happen one after another—they move forward together as we grow, give, and build.
As we become stronger financially, we create room to improve our environments and expand our reach.
Each step supports the others, allowing the vision to move forward with both wisdom and momentum.
Phase 1: Improve Our Position
Strengthening our financial foundation to create freedom for future ministry by:

  • Reducing and ultimately eliminating our remaining mortgage
  • Building financial margin and healthy cash reserves
  • Positioning the church to fund future campuses without unnecessary burden
  • Creating long-term sustainability for ministry growth
  • Maximizing stewardship so more resources can go directly toward people and mission
Phase 2: Improve Our Facility
Creating environments that are safe, welcoming, and excellent by:

  • Roof replacement over office areas
  • HVAC system upgrades
  • Parking lot resurfacing and restriping
  • Sanctuary lighting upgrades
Phase 3: Improve Our Community
Expanding our reach through people, partnerships, and future campuses by:

  • Growing and strengthening our staff to better serve people
  • Investing in local, national, and global missions
  • Supporting community initiatives and outreach efforts
  • Partnering with local organizations to meet real needs
  • Developing leaders through Harvest Academy
  • Preparing future pastors and leaders through ongoing training
  • Building a leadership pipeline for future campuses
  • Laying the groundwork to launch Metro Harvest campuses across our region

FAQs

Is One Light a fundraising campaign?
No. One Light is not a campaign with a finish line—it’s an ongoing vision and generosity initiative. It’s about growing in discipleship, generostiy and stewardship as we build what God has called us to over time.
Should I redirect my regular giving to One Light?
Regular giving and One Light giving both matter. If you’re able, we encourage giving above and beyond your regular giving toward One Light.
Is One Light above the tithe?
For those who are already tithing, One Light is an opportunity to give above and beyond. If you’re not yet tithing, your next step is to grow in consistent giving first.
Will this strain the church’s operating budget?
Apart from a significant portion of people transferring their giving from general to One Light, this initiative should not strain our operating budget.

We approach this with wisdom and stewardship. Our goal is to grow in generosity without creating unnecessary strain, while continuing to fund the day-to-day ministry of the church.

What is the timeline for us to launch our first campus?
Rather than a fixed date, launching a campus depends on several key components coming together. This includes financial readiness, continued growth in attendance, developing leaders, building a strong launch team, and securing the right location. As those pieces come into place, we’ll be positioned to move forward with clarity and confidence.
What happens if giving exceeds or falls short of the goal?
If giving exceeds expectations, we accelerate priority projects and future expansion. If giving is slower, we continue moving forward wisely with what we have, focusing on what matters most.
Is it appropiate to seek donations from friends and family outside our church?
Yes, sharing the vision of the initiative with friends and family outside the church community is encouraged if they are willing to support.
Can i make a big donation, donate stocks, or other assets?
Yes! there is no limit to what can be given. Gifts of stocks and other assets may be given. For more details, please email info@metroharvest.com
